Christmas Bruschetta

My mom makes this every year for Christmas and it is awesome.  It is so easy that it is great for parties.  The hardest part is toasting the bread, so don’t burn it and you’re set!

  • 1 loaf french bread
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • fresh basil, chopped.
  • 1 can peeled tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • olive oil

Thinly slice french bread and place on cookie sheet.  Using a basting brush, brush olive oil on the faces of the bread.  Toast under the broiler 2-3 minutes until golden brown.  Mix oregano, tomatoes and garlic in a saucepan and heat until warm but not boiling.  Mix in fresh basil and spoon over toasted bread slices.  Serve immediately.
